Barratt David Wilson announces senior promotions for North Thames division

Housebuilder Barratt David Wilson has made two senior promotions within its North Thames division.

Former sales and marketing director Karly Williams (pictured above) has been promoted to operations director, while the firm’s previous senior sales manager Marc Woolfe has been named head of sales.

Much of Karly’s 20-year career has been spent at Barratt, having joined the business in a customer service role.

She rapidly rose through the ranks and became sales and marketing director in 2014 — since then, she has worked on dozens of schemes across London and the South East, leading sales team both domestically and internationally.

In 2019, Karly decided to change her career path and become an operations director after undertaking Barratt’s CATALYST programme — a bespoke self-development course for women, with a view to encourage self-reflection and confidence.

In her new role, Karly will focus on other elements of the business, such as land and planning.

“I absolutely loved my time in sales and marketing — it’s fast-paced, and no two days are the same,” said Karly.

“The property cycle over the past two years has been remarkable, and I have gained valuable experience in a variety of sales environments; from tackling international sales and navigating the prime London market during a less buoyant period, to overcoming site-specific challenges to consistently hit and exceed sales targets.

“It was a big decision to change course and walk away from my sales team this year, but I am incredibly proud to have helped shape a well-structured, cohesive department that I can leave comfortably in the hands of Marc.”

Marc has also had a long career at Barratt — he joined in 2012 as part of the company’s ASPIRE graduate scheme before becoming a sales manager within the South Midlands division in 2014, and a senior sales manager in 2019.

In his new role as head of sales, Marc will be responsible for ensuring that the department meets its sales targets, while supporting the board to achieve its overall key business priorities.

Of his new role, Marc said: “I love the varied nature of working in sales — each day presents something completely different, whether it’s getting out on site or meeting with senior stakeholders.

“As I undertake my new role, I want to further drive the department forward and ensure we consistently secure the excellent results that we have achieved over the past few years, while continuing to develop our employees."
